Just as we decided that we would want to get married in Malaysia instead of Singapore, I started my research about the procedures of registering a muslim marriage with a foreigner in Malaysia. I did asked my eldest sister before searching on the web about it- and listening to her own process of registering her marriage just makes me..... p a n i c. Because I felt like there are just too much things to do, places to go, documents to be verified, etc, and that is just only the procedure to get married between Malaysian-Malaysian couple. Then I thought, 'what about Malaysian-Singaporean couple? Must be more complicated huh!'. Well like it or not, even how complicated it is, I still have to go through ALL of the {complicated} procedures and gotta get all those things done. Mhmmm well I'm left with no choice!
And the procedure of registering our marriage goes like this,
- To sign up and register both parties at the Pejabat Agama Islam NCR website, print out the filled forms.
- Make 3-4 copies of our IC, passport, birth cert.
- Do HIV tests at any government clinic (I paid for RM1, Amirul had to pay RM90 lolol) *the hiv test will only be valid for 6 months!
- Attend for 2 full days of pre-marriage course & obtain the certificate. We went for the course in TTDI, fee was RM120! The course was seriously fun and filling, so much laughters throughout the talk hehe.
- Amirul to obtain non-impediment letter and (if he has any prev.) marriage search record from Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM) in Singapore. He paid S$30 for both non-impediment letter and marriage search record.
- Amirul to get the non-impediment letter and marriage search record verified at Singapore's embassy in Malaysia.

- To obtain a verified form/letter from Malaysia's immigration office at the visa department (both must be present). Things to be brought together-- photocopies of IC&passport, passport sized photo for both parties, photocopy of applicant's biodata on passport, photocopy of visa entry in applicant's passport and the verified non-impediment letter from the embassy. *on a side note, this must be done within 30 days of your nikah date, or else, it would not be valid and the Pejabat Agama will not accept it.

- Bring all the copies of IC, passport, pre-marriage course cert and the rest of the official documents to the penolong pendaftar nikah at the nearest mosque where I reside, alongside with the presence of me, my wali & 2 witnesses
- To submit all the verified document back to the Pejabat Agama Islam office, and voila! Ready to get married :D
Yes, it may seem like it will give you a headache while ongoing the process, but its not as bad as you think! Its quite easy peasy (if you really understand the steps). For us.... honestly, everything was quite smooth, except getting the immigration form from the Immigration department. We had to do that twice :/ because the first time we went to apply the form was somewhere in mid Dec 2017 (our nikah date is 10th Feb 2018). So the form wasn't within 30 days of the nikah, therefore, the form EXPIRED (we did not know that it mattered). Thus, we still went to submit the form to Pejabat Agama. Around an hour after the submission, on my way home, I got a call from Pejabat Agama saying that the immigration form wasn't valid anymore. Whuuuttt. I panicked. Amirul had started his football season by then and was very busy. So it was very hard for him to come to KL to apply for the immigration form (again).
Anyway, we had gotten the time to come together to the Immigration office in Shah Alam to get the form settled (for the second time *rolls eyes*). It was our one last step before we could put our mind in peace.
I think that was all that I went through when registering our marriage here in Malaysia. If you are unsure about the process you can leave a comment below for me to reply, OR call the Pejabat Agama for further clarification :) They'll guide you step by step (mmmm kind of-- though sometimes they are not helpful but just call lol)
